Die Aussicht vom Rex Lookout. Wunderschön und eine der vielen Stellenentlang des Highways, wo man anhalten kann und die Aussicht genießen kann.

Auf dem obrigen Bild kann man ein ausgewachsenes männliches Salzwasserkrokodil sehen. Das ist gezeigte Exemplar ist geschätzte 100 Jahre alt und hat nur noch einen Zahn übrig. Sein Name ist.. Ted.

The picture above shows a fully grown 4,6 meter long male saltwater crocodile. He is thought to be 100 years old and only has one tooth left and his name is.. Ted.

Rechtzeitig zur  Schlangenshow ging es dann ins Reptilien und Krokodil Theater. Da konnte man dann einem - meiner Meinung nach suizidgefährdetem - Schlangenfanatiker zuschauen, wie er eine Schlange nach der anderen aus Säcken oder Plastiktonnen zog und sie vor sich her jonglierte, während er dem Publikum Informationen über die jeweilige Schalnge fütterte. Neben einer Carpet Python - die er vorm Publikum fütterte - hatte er dann auch - natürlich - einen Innland Taipan. Ein Onnland Taipan ist die tödlichste Schlabge der Welt - bezogen auf die Fatalität des Giftes. Trotzdessen schien er abaolut faziniert von dieser Schlange und war sich relativ sicher, dass sie ihn nicht beißen würde. Nach einer King Brown Snake, die auch tödlich ist - kam dann auch noch eine Olive Python, die zwar extrem groß war, aber zum Glück keine Giftzähne hatte.

Alles in allem eine gute und informative Show, ich war dann aber doch froh, dassich hinter dem Glaszaun war!

Just in time for the snake show. The gentleman in the picture is one of the few people, fascinated with snakes - especially deadly ones. During the 30 minute long show, he showed different snakes and while trying to prevent them from biting him, he told the crowd a few facts about them. The first snake he pulled out of a sack, was a little Carpet Python. Not venemous, not deadly, but since that seemed fairly boring to him, he decided to feed the little snake during the show. So he put the snake on the fence got a dead rat out of another sack and waved it in the snakes face. Didn't take long for the snake to grab the rat and wrap it's body around it, in the attempt to kill the dead rat. After finishing his meal the little Carpet Python got fairly interested in the crowd sitting in front of it. Enough reason for it's caretaker to put it back in the sack. After that he pulled out a Inland Taipan and a King Brown Snake. Both deadly! Instead of being a little frightened - like a normal person would be - the gentleman in the picture got even more exited. In the end he pulled out a huge Olive Python to finish the show.

It was a good show, but a was absolutly happy that I was sitting a fair distence away from the glas fence.

Der beste Snappschuss des Tages: Ein, wenn auch kleines, weibliches Salzwasser Krokodil versucht ein Stück Hünchen von der Angel zu beißen. Kleine Salzwasserkorkodile können bei einem Sprung aus dem Wasser ihren gesamten Körper aus dem Wasser bekommen. Größere 3/4 ihres Körpers.

Best picture of the day: A female saltwater crocodile jumping out of the water trying to get the bit of chicken tied to a stick. Small crocodile can get their whole body to come out of the water when jumping. Fully grown females or the larger males "only" 3/4 of their body. 

 

Das ist die Karte des Hartley's Crocodile Asventures Park. Sobald man den Eintrittspreis bezahlt hat, muss man nicht einen Cent mehr bezahlen für egal welche Aktivitäten. Dazu gehören die Täglichen Rundfahrten auf der Lagune mit mehr als 23 Salzwasser Krokodilen, die Schlangenshow und die Krokodilshow und das Füttern von Tieren, wie Kängurus, Koalas, Cassowaries, etc.
Insgesamt fand ich, dass der Park auf jedenfall das Geld wert war. Und alle Krokodile in der Lagune sind Wildness gefangen, da Queensland keine Krokodile, die größer als 2,5m sind in den Gewässern haben will. Diese Krokodile werden dann gefangen und zu anderen Krokodilgerechten Plätzen gebracht, wie zum Beispiel Hartley's Crocodile Adventures.

This is a map of the Hartley's Crocodile Adventure Park. As soon as you pay the entrance fee, you can participate in any of the activities in the park,without paying one more cent. This includes the boat cruises on the Hartley Lagoon, in which you can find 23 saltwater crocodiles and the snake- and crocodile show. Also the park offers you to feed the koalas, kangoroos, cassowaries and others at specific times.
All in all I thought, that the whole experience was absolutly worth the money! So if you come past it along your way have a look and decode whether you want to see it.

Zurück in Cairns beschloss ich eine Schnorcheltour zu buchen. Ich buchte also die frühst mögliche Bootstour. Da es Wochenende war, konnte ich erst in 2 Tagen die Tour antreten. Also verbrachte ich die paar Tage in Cairns.

Back in Cairns I decided to do a snorkeltrip on the Great Barrier Reef, but with my luck there was only a tour available in 2 days. So a spent the next couple of days in Cairns going to the markets watching the sunrise, etc. 

"The Lagoon", ein öffentliches, kostenloses Planschbad, da man hier im Ozean nicht schwimmen kann, wurde diese kleine Lagune direkt neben das Wasser gebaut. Über Tag ist hier die Hölle los, aber über Nacht (kurz vor Sonnenaufgang) ist es sehr ruhig und entspannend.

Direkt neben der Laguen stand dann dieser Baum, der mit selbstgemachten Papierblumen geschmückt war.

Und dann war es soweit, der Grund, weshalb ich so früh auf war, der Sonnenaufgang. Ich hab dann doch eher geguckt und keine Bilder gemacht, aber es war auf jedenfall schön anzusehen.

And here it is the sunrise in Cairns. I didn't take anymore picture after this one for whatever reason, but it was definitly nice to look at! 

 

→ Mossman (Gorge) 29.07.2015

Die komplette Karte zu Mossman Gorge. Im Mossman Gorge info centre gibt es einen Souvenir Shop ein Café und natürlich einen Infodesk. Um zum eigentlichen Wanderweg zu kommen, kann man entweder ein Ticket für den Shuttle Bus kaufen oder die 2km zu Fuß laufen. Ein Ticket für den Shuttle Bus kostet $8,90 und ermöglicht einem so viele Fahrten mit dem Bus, wie man möchte. Mit eigenem Auto kann man NICHT bis zum eigentlichen Wanderweg fahren, da die Straße durch den Regenwald geht und extrem eng ist! Die Busse fahren alle 15 min.

This is a map of the Mossman Gorge Information Centre and the tracks at Mossman Gorge. At the Information Centre you can also find a souvenir and gift shop and a café. To get to the actual track around the Mossman Gorge you have to either walkthe 2ks or buy a ticket for the shuttle bus. By paying the $8.90 for the ticket you can catch the bus as many times as you want. Due to the fact that the road to the track is extremly narrow no other vehicles than the busses are allowed. The busses leave every 15min.

Hier Mossman Gorge mit tausenden kleinen und großen Felsbrocken als Flussbett, schlängelt sich das Wasser Richtung Tal.

A little funny bird, that was bussy digging up half ofthe rainforest.

Ich habe zwar nur meine Hand ins Wasser gehalten, aber das war schon genug, denn es war gefühlte -10 Grad kalt. Drei tapfere Touristem gingen jedoch schwimmen und kamen zitternd und mit Gänsehaut aus dem Wasser.

An heißen Tagen ist es bestimmt eine gute Abkühlung, jedoch an diesem Tag war es zu kalt!

I only dipped my hand into the water and that was by far enough, because the water was absolutly freezing cold!

Still three brave tourists decided to go for a swim and came out shivering and with gousebumps! Lesson learned.

Other than that I can imaging it being a good place to cool off on a hot day, but not on that day.

Nachdem der Stamm von Aboriginies, der diesen Teil des Regenwaldes besiedelten von einem bösen Geist befallen wurde, kam ein anderer Stamm des Regenwaldes zur Hilfe undverbannte den bösen Geist hinterdiesen Berg. Zumindestest istdas die Geschichte zu diesem Berg, ansonsten ist er auch schön anzusehen von einem der Ansichtspunkte auf dem Wanderweg.

After a aboriginal tribe got haunted by an evil spirit another tribe, that lived in this rainforest came to help. They banned the evil spirit behind this little mountain to keep him from haunting the tribes.

At least that is the story of this mountain, that you can see from one of the lookout along the track.

The next few pictures are snapshots from along the ~2km track through the rainforest along Mossman Gorge.

Insgesamt war es die Fahrt auf jeden Fall wert! Und für wanderbegeisterte Touristen oder Backpacker komplett kostenlos und mit Toiletten und Duschen.

In the end it was absolutly worth the trip and for enthusiastic hikers absolutly for free! - With toilets and showers at the Information Centre.

Rebhuhn größe Vögel, die nicht so aussehen, als ob sie fliegen könnten, aber dafür den ganzen Tag mit ihren riesigen Krallen die Bete umgraben.

Am letzten Morgen lief ich nichtsahnend an der Rezeption vorbei und dann sitz ein Kokabarra direkt am Weg und interessiert sich überhaupt nicht daran, dass dutzende von Leuten an ihm vorbeilaufen.

As I was walking to reception in the morning for checkout, this kokabarra was sittin right there next to where everyone walk along. He absolutly did not care at all, that all thos people were taking pictures and walkig right past him.

Cairns → Palm Cove 25.07.2015

Der erste Trip mit Tony war zwar nur ein kurzer aber ein guter! Von Cairns nach Palm sind es zwar nur ca. 30 min, aber das war genug für den ersten Tag, da ich mich noch organisieren musste. Und tatsächlich der erste Morgen, an dem es nicht bewölkt war in Cairns!

The first trip with Tony was only a 30 min drive along the coast. But that was alright because I still had to organise myself and get used to the car. On top of that, it was the first sunny morning in Cairns since I arrived there! 

Palm Cove.  

 

Anstatt eines normalen erste Hilfe Packets, findet man hier eine Flasche Essig, da in dieser Gegend Quallen sein können und angeblich ist die beste erste Hilfe Essig!

Instead of a normal first aid kit you'll find bottles of vinegar on those beaches. Apperently the best first aid when touched by a stinger is vinegar! 

Und natürlich im Norden Australiens: Krokodile. Trotzdessen, dass es momentan nicht die Hochsaison für Krokodile und Stingers ist, kann es immer sein, dass sich eins von beidem oder beides an den Strand verirrt. Es waren zwar viele im Wasser am baden, ich habe mich aber noch nicht getraut!

And of course in the north of Australia: Crocs. Even though it is not the main season for thos nasty creatures there is still a chance, that one or two are there. Still many peaople were swimming in the water without really seeming to keep an eye open. I wasn't to sure about going in myself though. 

 

Am nächsten Morgen saßen zwei Kokabarras auf dem Bau bneben dem Auto, die auch glücklich vor sich hinträllert!

Cairns 19.07-25.07.2015

Nachdem mein Flug gecancellt wurde, musste ich eine Stunde später, wie geplant, nach Sydney fliegen und dann von dort nach Cairns. Als ich dann um 1 Uhr morgens am Hostel angekommen war, bekam ich von der Rezeption relativ schnll einen raum zugewiesen. Im zweiten Stockwerk angekommen ging ich ins Zimmer, um dann zu sehen , dass alle Betten besetzt waren. Also ging es wieder zurück runter zur Rezeption (mit gesamtem Gepäck), um dann auf die Security zu warten, die sicherstellen sollte, dass im ursprünglichen Raum kein Bett frei war. Als meine Aussage kontrolliert ware, wurde mir dann endlich ein anderer raum zugewiesen, der auch tatsächlich ein freies Bett hatte. Am nächsten Morgen wachte ich auf um dann diesen grau bewölkten Himmel zu sehen - und ich dachte ich wäre von Mlebourne weggeflogen..

After getting to know that my original direct flight to Carins got cancelled, I had to get to the airport one hour later to catch a flight to Sydney and from there to Cainrs. Finally I arrived i nthe hostel at 1am. Luckely the reception was quick and I was on my way up to the room. When I arrived there I checked all the beds to find the empty one, but every single one was taken. So back down to reception - with still all my stuff on my back - to figure out what went wrong. After 30 min security came to check the room again with and then send me to another room that actually had an empty bed.

When I woke up in the morning, I htought I was back in Melbourne with the sky covered in dark grey clouds. But luckly it was still mcuh warmer than down south. 

Ich machte ein paar Spaziergänge durch Cairns und muss wirklich sagen, dass Cainrs an sich eine schöne Stadt ist. Das einzig schlechte war, dass ich mir dachte es wäre eine gute Idee zur Touri Info zu gehen und nachzufragen, was man in Cairns so machen kann. Naja die direkte Antwort war: Nichts. Es gab ein Museum, das hatte jedoch vor Monaten geschlossen, d. h. das einzige, was man hier wirklich machen kann ist Strand und Schnorcheltouren.

After walking around in the inner city, I must honestly say, that Cairns is a really nice city. The only problem is, that there is literally nothing to but going to the beach or booking a tour to go snorkeling. Even the tourist information could not help me and said, that there was a museum in Cairns but it closed down a couple of months ago. 

 

Natürlich suchte ich mir mein Café, zu dem ich morgens gehen konnte, um Pancakes zu essen. Ein nettes kleines Café mit Göttern von verschiedenen Kulturen anstatt der normalen Tischnummern.

Of course I found myself a little café to go to in the mornings for pancakes. This little place had pictures and descriptions of different gods from different culture instead of the normal table numbers. 

Mein neuer bester Freund Tony. Mit Matratze und Camping Equipment im Kofferraum, das perfekte Auto, um die Ostküste entlang zu fahren.

My new best friend Tony. His has got a matrace and all sorts and kinds of camping equipment in the trunk. The perfect mate to travel down the east coast with! 

 

Und die letzte Nacht in Cairns ging es in den Pub mit ein paar Mädels aus dem Zimmer. Violet entschied Bier mit Strohhalm zu trinken. Das Bild ist sehr dunkel, aber es war ein guter Abend!

The last night in Cairns I spent going out with the other girls from my room. We ended up going to a pub, where Violet decided to drink ber with a straw. Good night out! 

Melbourne 17.07-18.07.2015

An meinem Geburtstag ging es in den Zoo mit Anne Keith und den zwei kleinen Enkeln. Ich habe an diesem Tag nicht sehr viele Bilder gemacht, jedoch war es ein wunderschöner und lustiger Tag mit einer Schokoladentorte als Krönung.

On my birthsday we went to the Melbourne Zoo, I didn't take too many picture, but it was a beautiful day with Anne, Keith and their to little grandchildren! 

Warwick Stud 03.07-16.07.2015

Kurz nachdem ich zurück auf dem Gestüt angekommen war, starteten wir das erst Feuer für die Saison.

Shortly after being back at Warwick Stud we started up the first bond fire for the season! 

 

Innerhlab weniger Minuten brannte der gesammte Haufen von Bäumen!

Auch ganz nett war es die Pferde wieder zu sehen und den Unterschie dzu bemerken. Hier Franky, der ein ganzes Stück gewachsen war.

It was nice to see als the horses again and see how much they had changed in the matter of half a year!

 

 

Diese zwei lieben und hassen sich zur selben Zeit! Munzie, eine kleine english collie Welpin, und ein kleiner Kater. Manchmal kuscheln die beiden, wie im Bild, und manchmal jagt Munzie den kleinen über die ganze Farm!

Those two love an dhate each other! Munzie, a young english collie pup, and the little kitty cat cuddle up sometimes, but then other time Munzie starts chasing the little one all over the farm!

Schon nach ein paar TRagen hieß es dann auch schon wieder Auf Wiedersehen und die Reise ging wieder zurück nach Melbourne.

After a couple of day it was time to say goodbye again. After the visit on the stud my journey led me back to Melbourne.
